Amboli

Whenever, you will feel like surrendering yourself to Nature, Amboli would be the right place to come! Amboli is less known but splendidly a beautiful hill resort. It is located in the southern range of Sahyadri hill, Sindudurga district, Maharashtra. This hill station lies at an altitude of 690m. It is the last mountain resort before the coastal highlands settle with a sigh to form flat beaches. It shows great hands of pleasant and affordable welcome to its tourist except during the monsoons season. During the raining season, the Amboli hill station remains enveloped in a fog.

Amboli hill station has been discovered by the Sawants of Wadi. Amboli receives a high rainfall of nearly 750 cms. This is one of the wettest places in Maharashtra. Mostly, tourist come here went they tend to visit Goa, since it is just 80 kms. All the hotels located here are 10 years old. The hills around the Amboli hill station are yet to receive punk haircuts in the terms of development. As far as eye can see, the original forest cover rests here like blessings.

Amboli is one of the classic family holiday destinations. Many people visit Amboli throughout the year, they come every Friday and waning every Monday. The best way to get about Amboli is to take up an auto, if you have not driven up in Ghat. Well, this will not cost you more than 100 Rs to cover all the tourists' spots. Madhavgad Fort is a fort which is of must visit but in the state of ruin. The bauxite mines are situated near about 10km from Amboli.

Nangartas waterfalls are near about 10km from the Amboli. Mainly , Amboli hill station has a spectator appeal. Well, waterfalls are deep and noisy into a beautiful ravine. You make sure that while watching you do not slip into invisible bottom because of your enthusiasm. The other local waterfall is near about five kms away from here. Here, you can stand on rocks under the cascading sheets of water for a cool shower!

Like the other hill station, Amboli hill station too offers many viewpoints to its tourist. During the rainy season, clouds cast a white blanket over the horizon. When you step out, you will walk in the rolling mist. Even, some of the roads remain invisible during this time. Here you can find many points, which includes Mandatory Sun Set Point, Parkshit point, Kavelsad Point, and Shirgaonkar point. These points offer a spectacular view of the flora and fauna of surrounding forest. The Mahadev Gad built by Sawants and located at a distance of 3km from Amboli, also offers good views of the valley.

Hiranyakeshi Uppam (temple) is a place from where the Hiranyakeshi River springs originated from the mouth of caves. This cave houses a small shiva temple, which is built many years ago. There is something very special, scared, and peaceful about this Hiranyakeshi place. In addition, it a very good spot for the angler to hangout and are engaged in another form of meditation and fishing. The nearby Maruti Mandir is also a more of a commercial effort. This Maruti Mandir was built by a holy baba from Goa. The architecture of temple is not very good but it is a quite green spot. It is near to stream, so one may not mind to visit this place!
