Sights To See In Bhandardara
Wilson Dam:
Wilson Dam was built long way back in the early years of 1910 on the Pravara River. Well, Wilson dam is 150 mts high. It is one of the largest earthen dams in India. Wilson Dam is a powerful testimony to the engineering skills of days gone by. At the base of Wilson Dam, there is a garden endowed with thick greenery, streams, and gigantic trees.
During the monsoon season, when the level of the lake rises, the Wilson dam opens its gates. This is done to release the excess of water that finds its way down to the plains below. You can stand at the edge of garden, enjoy the garden embankment, and feel the cool spray. Here, you can also visit the picturesque Umbrella forts, which are a major attraction to the visitors but only during the monsoon when the water levels are considerably high.
Arthur Lake:
Arthur Lake is a tranquil blue mirror. This lake amidst from the dense greenery of bhandardara, which is fed by waters from the Pravara River.
Mount Kalsubai Point:
While overlooking Bhandardara, you can see Mount Kalsubai, one of the highest peaks of 1,646 mts in the Sahaydri range. During the Maratha rule, Mount Kalsubai point was served as the watchtower. It is an ideal place for the people who love trekking, as are the surrounding hills. At the top of the hill, there is a small temple with an old well in its backyard. Legends say that the level of this well's water never drops below 3 feet.
Agasti Rishi Ashram:
Agasti Rishi Ashram is situated on the bank of the River Pravara. This legendary dwelling also finds some place in the scripts of the Ramayana. It is said that Lord Rama, his brother Laxmana and his wife Sita visited Shri Agasti Rishi ashram to seek his blessings. At that time, Rishi Agasti gave Lord Rama an arrow, which he used to kill Ravana and rescue his wife Sita. Although the Ashram is under renovation, still manages to attract crowds from all over.
Ratangarh Fort:
Ratangarh fort lies only a few kilometers away from the MTDC resort. This fort was captured by Chhatrapti Shivaji Maharaj and was the only of his favorites. Ratangarh has a breath taking view and provides an ample ground for the trekking lovers.
Amriteshwar Temple:
Amriteshwar temple dates us back to 1100 AD. This temple was built in a distinct Hemadpanti style, this intricately carved temple still stands as a proud. Other places that are worth visiting here are the Konkan Kada (a trekking site), small garden, and a swimming tank.

While on a visit to Bhandardara, a visit to the nearby Randha Falls hurtles down a 45m granite gorge. Moreover, Randha falls spray a splattering rock face. The Ghorpada Devi temple is nestling in a dry hollow and had always remained protected from the rising water levels, during the monsoons.

Shirdi, one of the most popular pilgrimage centers is just about 90 km away from bhandardara. Here, in Shirdi, Shri Sai Baba has taken form in the early 19th century. Shirdi temple is a key center that attracts people of every faith all through out the year.
Trimbakeshwar:
Trimbakeshwar has the holy origin of Godavari River. Trimbakeshwar lies near about 30 km from the west of Nashik. Trimbakeshwar is one among the twelve Jyotirlingas.
