The Taragarh Fort is a massive fort in Bundi. The fort is very famous as Star Fort in Bundi. The Taragarh Fort is one of the major tourist attractions in Bundi. It was built in the 13th century on a steep hillside. The fort has massive battlements and ramparts. There is an enormous gateway to the fort.

There are three entrances to the fort. The names of the entrances are Phuta Darwaza, Lami pol and Gagudi ki phatak. These gates are in ruins at present. There are tunnels across the entire hillside and they are crisscrossed. These tunnels were very useful during the war and the King and his Deputies could flee from them in case they felt any danger. It is unfortunate that there are no maps available to show the routes of these paths at present.

Once you enter the fort, you can see the Bhim Burj, which is the largest battlement. There is a very famous canon called as Garbha Gunjan canon mounted on the Bhim Burj. There is a huge water reservoir inside the Taragarh Fort. This huge water reservoir is carved out of a single rock. The reservoirs were constructed for storing water during the crisis.

Another interesting place to visit inside the Bundi fort is the Rani Mahal. Rani Mahal is a small palace built specially for the rulers wives. There are stained glass windows and murals in the mahal.

You can get a stunning view of Kota at the sunset if you stand in the Bundi fort. People come here from far places to see the beautiful spectacle at sunset.
