Natraja temple :

Natraja Temple located here is one of the ancient temples of Tamil Nadu State. This temple has a unique concept. The Natraja temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is in the forms of Cosmic Dancer. However, this temple is one of those rare temples that represent Lord Shiva in an idol form and not in a Lingam form. The Natraja Temple is said to be the place of dance competition between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This temple is build up of Granite. During the rule of Chola King in the 10th Century, Temple was constructed. Moreover, Nataraj temple is a blend of piety, tradition, History, and art. Millions of devotes visit this temple not only from India but also from Sri Lanka. The architecture and art of temple is just stunning and remarkable. Annamalai University :

Raja Sir Annamalai Chettiar founded Annamalai University. This is one of the residential Universities located here on the eastern outskirts of the Chidambaram town. Pichavaram is situated around 16 kms of Chidambaram city. It is also known for its mangrove ecosystem. Kali temple :

Kali temple is located on the northern extremity of Chidambaram town. This temple was built by Kopperunjingan while his rule in 1229 AD to 1278 AD.

Kalvarayan Hills :

Kalvarayan Hills are situated at a distance of near about 150 kms North West of Chidambaram. However, Kalvarayan Hills are located on the western side of Kallakurichi. Kalvarayan Hills are spread over an area of near about 600 sq. The height of Hill ranges from 315 m to 1190m. This hill has a pleasant climate. It is one of the ideal spot for the Solitary moments. One can also visit the botanical Garden on the hills and other two waterfalls here. Kalvarayan Hills are one of the ideal places for trekking. Seerkazhi :

Seerkazhi is located near about 20 kms from the Chidambaram town. Seerkazhi has three shrines, which includes Sree Brahmapureeswarar, Sattanathar, and Thonaiappar Shrines. These shrines are dedicated to Goddess Tirunilai Nayaki and God Child Ganansambandar.

Poompuhar :

Poompuhar is a small city, which is situated at a distance of near about 40 kms from Chidambaram. During the reign of Chola Kings, place used to serve as a major port. However, now the place serves as home to an art gallery built by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
