Dilli Haat is a famous craft bazaar in Delhi. Located Opposite INA market and near the AIIMS hospital, the place is a favorite haunt for the residents of Delhi. The main objective of setting up Dilli Haat was to support the artisans and craftsmen who have minimal earnings and do not get an opportunity to maximize on their efforts. By setting up stalls in Diili Haat, these craftsmen can directly sell to the public and make more money by avoiding middlemen.

Spread over 6 acres of land Dilli Haat is an open courtyard type of market lined with stalls on both the sides. These stalls are allocated to artisans and craftsmen on a rotational basis. The objective is to extend the benefits to maximum number of craftsmen. The rent charged for these stalls is very nominal around Rs 100 per day. Both the seller and the buyer benefit by avoiding the middlemen. Thus, be assured that what you get at Dilli Haat is authentic as it comes directly form the artisan and reasonably priced as well.

Shopping at Dilli Haat

If you are a shopping buff then Dilli Haat is the best place for you. From Rajasthani Bandhni to Punjabi Phulkari, clothes from all the states of India are available here. Hand embroidery, hand paintings which are otherwise available at high price outside are sold cheap at Dilli Haat. Not only clothes, but paintings, artifacts, sculptures and handicrafts from all states are available here. Foreigners find it a heaven because they get huge variety of Indian handicrafts all under one roof and at the right prices.
