Laxmi Narayan Temple

Also known as Birla Mandir, this temple was built by the great entrepreneur B.D. Birla. The temple was inaugurated by Gandhi Ji. His wished that all caste and creed in India, including untouchables should be allowed to enter the temple.

The temple took six years to get constructed and was finally opened in 1939. The temple is located in central Delhi, at Mandir Marg. The main deity in the temple is Laxmi Narayan, or Lord Vishnu.

Unlike most of the temples in India, the Laxmi Narayan temple is modern in architecture. The design of the temple resembles Orissan style. The walls of the temple are adorned with beautiful paintings depicting mythological scenes. The exterior facade of the temple is done in red stone and looks magnificent. The temple has a garden where the devotees and visitors spend time in a calm and natural environment. It offers a different spiritual experience to the visitors.

Chattarpur Mandir

Located near Qutub Minar in Delhi, Chattarpur Temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple has South Indian architecture. The enormity of Chattarpur Temple is worth seeing. Apart from the main temple it has other buildings devoted to library, convention centre, accommodation for priests, lawn, and so on.

The architecture of the temples is modern and the exterior is done in white marble. Although it is not a very old temple, Chattarpur Mandir is a favorite of Delhi devotees. During Navrathra festival huge crowd assemble in the temple for a continued period of nine days. People flock the temple in queue and wait for their turn to worship Durga.

Akshardham Temple

Located on the Nizamuddin Bridge in Delhi, Akhshardham is a relatively newer temple in Delhi. Very soon it has become a major tourist spot. Tourists are awe-struck by its beautiful architecture with sculpture and carvings. The floor of the temple is of marble and provides a cool surface to the devotees.

The temple is modern in many aspects. The temple has an array of activities for its visitors. There is a small amphitheatre where a light and sound show is conducted. The temple has a museum and a boating complex as well. Pure and tasty food is served in the canteen of the temple at a very nominal price.

The temple is constructed and maintained by the famous Swaminarayan sect of Gujrat. The deities are Radha Krishna Dev, Shri Sita Ram, Shri Laxmi Narayan, and a few more. This temple is a must see from tourist and architecture point of view.

Kalkaji Temple

This is one of the very old temples of Delhi. It is visited by tourists more for its divine qualities. The oldest section of the temple dates back to 1764, and additions were made in mid 19th century. According to the folklore the temple is so old that even Pandavas and Kauravas are said to have worshipped here.

The main deity here is Goddess Kali. The temple is crowded during Navrathra and the devotion of the visitors is worth seeing. One must visit this temple to see the devotion and experience the divinity of Goddess Kali.
