He established Tibet House with the objective of providing a learning and research platform for Tibetan Culture and heritage. Tibet House is strategically located at the Institutional Area of Lodhi Road.

Due to Chinese invasion of Tibet, Tibetans have been fleeing from their own country since 1959. Dalai Lama, the great Tibetan leader, also had to flee from the state in the year 1965.
Dalai Lama is attached to his culture and religion and believes in love and harmony. When he fled from his country he carried a lot of important things with him to Delhi. Tibet House is famous for displaying these artifacts, paintings, documents, and sculpture brought by Dali Lama.
The idea of the Tibet House is to provide a congenial environment for growth and interaction of Tibetans who have left their home and state behind. It also provides a center for Buddhist Studies. Buddhism, which is the religion of Tibetans, is rightly preserved and cherished in every part of the Tibetan House.
Tibetan House is a five storied building that has many interesting facets. With full of life and energy the religious center is always bustling with activity. Cultural activities like dance, exhibitions, music shows are going on inside the Tibet House. Cultural conventions and seminars are a regular feature at the house. National and international dignitaries keep visiting the place to attend seminars and conventions.
Tibet House has a library that is the ideal place for studying Tibetan culture and history. The library contains 5000 volumes of manuscripts and books. It also has Bookshop, a Gallery, a Resource Center, and a Conference Hall. There is also a small shop inside the premises that sells Tibetan costumes, jewelry, medicines, handicrafts, incense, and so on.
The scholars at Tibet House are continuously engaged in publishing books and translations on Tibetan culture, philosophy, and history. The Tibet house releases "The Sambhota Series", an English publication that talks about aspects of Buddhism and Tibetan culture.
The main attraction of Tibet House is the museum that displays Tibetan art and culture. Dalai Lama wanted to preserve the Tibetan glory, its rich tradition, and unique culture. He was successful in his endeavor by establishing the Tibet House and the museum inside it that showcases Tibetan culture. The museum has a number of Buddha statues, Tibetan currency collections, prayer related objects, antique jewelry, and so on.
The museum inside the Tibet House is the main reason for tourists to visit the place. One of the main collections is the 15th century 'Tankhas', a series of paintings depicting the life and evolution of Buddha. There are about 200 gilded bronze, copper, black stone, brass, and sandalwood collected from different monasteries.
