Best Tombs of Delhi

Located in East Delhi, Humayun's Tomb is a tribute to the great ruler Humayun. The tomb was built by his wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1565. The design of the Humayun's Tomb is very similar to the Taj Mahal of Agra. In fact, the inspiration for the model of Taj Mahal was drawn from the Humayun's Tomb.
The tomb is surrounded with lush green landscape designed in Persian style. A beautiful water fountain makes the place breezy and cool. People come here for peace from the hustle and bustle of the crowded city of Delhi. The tomb took 8 years to get constructed and 1.5 lakh rupees were invested on its construction.
Apart from Humayun's tomb other Mughul rulers were also buried here. Humayun's tomb is a marvelous piece of architecture and a must see for tourists.

The tomb of the legendary ruler who ruled Delhi for three years is located in crowded alleys of Bulbuli Kahne in Delhi. Razia Sultana was the only Queen to have made her way to the Delhi's throne.
The tomb of Razia Sultana was constructed by her brother Behram Shah way back in 13th century. Just beside the tomb, lies the grave of Razia's sister Saziya. The tomb is built on a slightly raised platform in the middle of an open courtyard. Although, the tomb is no architectural marvel, the serenity and peace is worth experiencing on reaching the tomb.

Lodi Tomb is the tomb of Sikander Lodi situated amidst the greenery of Lodi Garden. The tomb was built by Ibrahim Lodi in 1517. Apart from Lodi's tomb, Lodi garden also has tombs of Muhammad Shah, Shish Gumbad and Bara Gumbad. Lodi Tomd is one of the first garden tombs to be constructed by Mughuls in India.
Lodi Tomb is typically done in Sayyid architectural style. Deep varandhas, octagonal design and tall arches are all characteristics of the Sayyid architectural style. The tomb has twin domes without any roof kiosks which are otherwise common in other tombs built by Mughul.
The reason to visit Lodi Garden is coupled with the presence of the tombs inside it which showcases the innovative architectural designs by Mughuls.
Delhi is lined with tombs of simple to complex architectural designs. These tombs speak of the artistic capabilities of the Mughuls. Apart from the ones described above, some other tombs are the graveyards of Menmood and Safdarjung Tomb. However, among the entire list of tombs a visit to Humayun's Tomb and Lodi Tomb is a must.
