Ganpatipule is a small village in a Ratnagiri district. The Ganaptipule temple is a self-originated (swayambhu ganpati) Ganesh temple which is frequently visited by the devotes, through out the year. The God here in temple is considered the Western Sentinel God of India. Thebaw Palace

Thebaw palace was constructed in 1910-1911. This palace was built for the exiled king and queen of Burma (now it is called Myanmar). They used to live in this palace from the year 1911 till their death in 1916. They stayed here for only five years but their stay here is now immortalized in stone. Later, this palace may be converted into a regional museum or a heritage hotel.

Malgund Village

Malgund is the birthplace of the famous Marathi poet, Keshavsoot. It is a small village near about 1 km from Ganpatipule. Recently, resident of poet is renovated and converted into a student's hostel. The Marathi Sahitya Parishad has also constructed a beautiful monument in his memory called Keshavesoot Samarak.

Jaigarh fort

Jaigarh fort is situated on a cliff at the entrance of the Sangameshwar River. It is 35 kms away from Ganapatipule. Jaigarh fort was built in 17the century but still it offers a commanding view of the sea. Jaigarh's sea fort is located at a sheltered bay. This beach is small as well as safe.

Pawas

The natural beauty and serenity of Pawas is admirable, but it achieved prominence when the Swami Swaroopanand had made it his dwelling. Swami Swaroopanand was a spiritual leader who influenced many of the Maharahstraians. The residence of Swami Swaroopaand in Pawas is now converted into an Ashram. A visit there is a journey through a time.

Velneshwar

Velneshwar is 170 kms away from Ratnagiri, it is a sleepy village. The adjoining beach to velneshwar is clean, natural, and lined with the coconut trees. As the beaches are free from rocks, swimming and other water sports are possible here. Here, there is an old Shiva Temple, which is often visited by the pilgrimages. Veleneshwar is a heaven for those people who are in search of quiet mysticism in the eternal presence of mystic Lord Shiva.
