The capital complex of Assam at Dispur is situated in this corridor. The corridor also facilitates growth of a southern node (sub city-center) at Ganeshguri along with other southern residential areas developed during past few decades.

Corridor Of Commercial Area:

G.S Road is one of Guwahati's most popular shopping centers. There is nothing that one cannot buy here. It also has several eating-houses. The state emporia buildings are also located in this area so are the head offices of major banks, airlines and other such things of importance to the tourist. The road is an important meeting point for all sections of people and is something that tourists and the common people definitely do not want miss it for its architecture and to get relaxed from the monotonous life of everyday.

The main bus terminal ( one new bus terminal has constructed but not yet started) in Paltan Bazar stands also in G.S.Road, entailing the rise of lots of hotels and restaurants including international and national brands. Being one of the busiest roads, G.S Road has also faced the problem of traffic jam, though several fly-overs of modern architecture have been constructed in order to overcome these problems.
