A. Urban Attraction:

1)Pan Bazaar:

Standing on the southern part of the Brahmaputra, this bazaar is mainly a hub for book shops, drugs and pharmaceuticals .It is also considered as a wholesale and retail market for traditional Assamese silk outfits as well as other northeastern handloom items.

2) Fancy Bazaar:

C. Ancient & Historic Attraction:

1) Umananda Temple: Standing in an Island, and being easily accessible from Guwahati main city, every year it attracts lots of tourist every year. The main deity is Siva. It is easily reachable from Pan Bazaar.

2) Basistha Temple: Standing in a very beautiful place, almost 12 k.m away from Guwahati main city, this temple attracts lots of visitors every year.

3) Navagraha Temple: This temple possesses nine planets of solar system, which should be worshipped for making life successful. It is in the heart of the city, near Silpukhuri.

D. Regional Attraction:

1) Kaziranga National Park: 200 kms east, is famous for the single horned Rhinoceros in the world.

3) Shillong: 100 kms south, is a beautiful hill station and the capital of Meghalaya.

5) Manas National Park: 150 kms west is located at the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas.

6) Madan Kamdev: 35 kms away from the city is famous for archeological sites.

7) Hajo & Sualkuchi: 30 kms away from the city, is famous for their arts and culture.

Transport infrastructure:

Guwahati has a good public transport system. Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Borjhar is about 20 km west of the city center, where air connectivity has improved considerably in the last couple of years and all major domestic airlines fly into Guwahati

Guwahati has three railway stations serving it. Its major station is Guwahati Junction. Two minor stations are Kamakhya (adjacent to the NF Railways headquarters) and New Guwahati (for freight services) located towards west and east respectively. Major trains serving Guwahati are Guwahati Rajdhani Express, Saraighat Express, North-East Express, Guwahati-Jorhat Town Jan Shatabdi Express.

Guwahati is very well connected with adjoining regions via bus services. A government agency - ASTC (Assam State Transport Corporation) and many private operators provide a considerably good city-bus system. Two nodal points, Adabari and Paltan Bazaar, provide bus services to towns and cities in Assam and adjoining states.
