What To See In Kishangarh
Kishangarh fort build in 1653 by Maharaja Roop Singh is a major attraction. The fort is surrounded by huge walls and has many palaces and museums. There is a canal that surrounds the Kishangarh fort and it was build by Kishan Singh. It is believed that this fort was built by Maharaja Roop Singh on the spot where he saw a sheep defending her lambs from a pack of wolves. The fort is situated near a magnificent lake and it was a prominent center of the Kishangarh School of miniature paintings. The famous and unique Bani Thani style of painting originated here. The Maharaja Sawant Singhji and his lover Bani Thani modeled as Lord Krishna and Radha for the paintings. The interiors of the fort are beautiful and there are some wonderful frescoes.
There is a beautiful pond called as a Gong Talab and there are many beautiful spots around it. There are some temples and the best of all is the one of the nine planets, the Navgrah temple. This is the only temple of the nine planets in the entire world.
Phool Mahal or the Palace of flowers is located in the vicinity of Kishangarh fort. It was built in 1870 by Maharaja Prithvi Singh as his monsoon palace. The beautiful Phool Mahal is now a heritage hotel.
