Oberoi Grand Hotel in Calcutta is located in the Park Street, BBD Bag and Chowringhee area, the commercial and administrative center of the city. The elegantly furnished hotel offers plush rooms with top class facilities. The history of the hotel dates back to the British Raj era. At first the hotel was started as Mrs. Monte's Boarding House at 13, Chowringhee Street which was later on taken over by an Armenian real-estate baron named Arrathoon Stephen. The hotel was then expanded into a 3 storey building with 500 rooms. In the year 1938, the hotel was acquired by Mohan Singh Oberoi and it was renamed as Oberoi Grand. As per its historical significance during second war some 4000 soldiers camped in this hotel.
