After the Government had acquired the land in the year 1911, the Kotta Settlement was shifted to Aggal Hamlet, which is 2 km away from here.

Coonoor is near about 23 km away from Kotagiri and well connected with roadways. From Mettupalayam Ooty and Coonoor, buses are available for Kotagiri hill station.
