Among the natural wonders, Guru Shikhar peak is the most notable one. With a height of 1722 meters, this peak is the source of lakes, waterfalls, rivers and dense evergreen forests. A miracle of Nature, this peak is also nicknamed as the "oasis in the desert".
Mount Abu has been one of the oldest seats of Jainism in India and is home to some of the ancient Jain temples in the country among which the Dilwara Temples are the most notable ones. Comprising of a number of temples in a single complex, these temples are made out of white marble and date back to the 11th and 13th centuries A.D. Among them, the oldest one is the one built by a person named Vimal Shah and the temple was dedicated to the Jain Tirthankaras. This temple is named Vimal Vasahi Temple and was constructed in the year 1031 A.D. The second in importance is the Lun Vasahi Temple which was constructed by two brothers belonging to the Porwal Jain Community named Tejpal and Vastupal. This temple came up in 1231 A.D.
Other interesting tourist attractions include a number of temples like Shri Raghunathji Temple, Gaumukh Temple, Adhar Devi Temple, Durga Temple and Ambika Mata Temple in Jagat, Shiva Temple and Kantinath Temple in Achalgarh. Apart from the temples, tourists are attracted by the Achalgarh Fort, Nakki Lake, the Museum and Art Gallery, Trevor's Tank and Sunset Point.
Mount Abu is also famous for the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary which came into being in the year 1960. Credit also goes to the Municipal Park, Gandhi Park and Ashok Vatika to keep Mount Abu green.
