Kempty fall is actually located 15 Kms from Mussorie on the Chakrata Road. In fact it is also close to Dehradun and is located on the Dehradun - Mussorie road. Any tourist who comes to Mussorie can not go without visiting this fall because this is one of the main spots of the region.

During the time of British Raj the Englishmen used to organize tea parties near the fall. They used to camp and have tea here. Thus the fall started to be known as Kempty Falls. The fall has old association with Britishers. In fact the fall was discovered by a Britisher called John Mekinan.

In kempty falls the water falls from a height of 4,500 feet high. As it reaches down it splits into 5 cascades. The sound that water creates while hitting the ground is deafening and thrills the tourists. One cannot stand for long under the fall because the currents hit hard. Also the water is chilled like ice.

The Kempty fall in Mussorie is closed during winter and monsoon. It is open for the tourists from March to July.
