Doddabetta peak in Nilgiri Hills runs through the plateau of southern Western Ghats mounting at the center forming the highest peak in southern India in Nilgiri hills. The middle layer of the peak is flooded with fire resistant shrub type: Chrysopogon zeylanicus, Cymbopogon flexuosus, Arundinella ciliate, Arundinella mesophylla and Sehima nervosum.

Birds and flora:

The collection of birds in this peak is one of the finest in India. The avifauna of Doddabetta peak consists of the threatened green-billed coucal, Srilankan whistling thrush, Laughing thrush, spot-billed pelican and Kashmir flycatcher.

Doddabetta peak lies at the junction of Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats. The tower located on the top of the peak gives an exotic view of the valleys and far off plains. Telescopes have been installed by the government for the lucid sight seeing of the place by the tourist. The plains of Mysore and Coimbatore are clearly visible in a hot and clear day. The geographical proximity of the peak has made it a famous tourist spot in Nilgiris.
