About Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer nick named as the 'Golden City of India' is situated in the state of Rajasthan. The town of Jaisalmer stands on the ridge of yellowish sandstone and is crowned by a fort. The fort has a palace and several ornate Jain temples. The houses are amber hued and temples are finely sculptured and are an architectural delight. The sand Dunes, camel safaris are a truly unforgettable experience and you can enjoy the breath taking beauty of the desert at sunset. No wonder then, the city is hence is also referred to as "The Jewel of the Desert".

Jaisalmer is named after the founder Rao Jaisal and literally means the Hill Fort of Jaisal. This is a living fort and even today, most of the city's population lives in the fort.
Jaisalmer was one of the last states to sign a treaty with the British rulers. The present royal descendent Brijraj Singh does a lot of welfare work in the city and the royal family still commands respect from the people.
The city has given dancers and musicians to the world. The manganyar musicians play all over the world and are liked by many. Jaisalmer festivals held in Jan-Feb are very colorful and vibrant are a major tourist attraction.
Among the not to be missed at all are the Jaisalmer fort, Patwon ki haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli. Nathmalji Ki haveli, Tazia Tower, Bara Bagh and the very beautiful Gadsisar Lake.
