It can be called as an Art Museum as it has an art gallery. This gallery displays paintings, sculptures and architectural fragments of the 8th century city of Chandrawati. The sculptures and epigraphs from Jhalrapatan region fill the galleries. There are many paintings and manuscripts and various other objects and artifacts from the area.

    There are many idols displayed in the Jhalawar museum and all of them were recovered from various ruins from the nearby area. One of the highlights of this government museum is the statue of Ardhanarishwar (half woman) Natraj. This statue was also displayed in Moscow during the Festival of India celebrations. Other important idols are of Lord Vishnu, Laxminarayan, Lord Krishna and Trimurti.

    The government museum in Jhalawar is one of the oldest museums in the country. It was established in 1915 AD and has a very fine collection of rare manuscripts, paintings and idols.

    The entry fees to the Jhalawar museum are a nominal Rs 3 for adults and Rs 1 for students. The timings are from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The Jhalawarmuseum is closed on Fridays and gazetted holidays.
