    Kumbhalgarh has a beautiful fort, which has a unique structure. It is located at an altitude of 1100m from sea level. The massive perimeter wall of the fort is very ling and is the second largest in the world after the great wall of china. This wall is 36 kms across the Aravalli Mountains and has frontal thickness of 15 feet. This fort is surrounded by 13 mountain peaks and guarded by seven massive gates and seven ramparts. It is further strengthened by rounded bastions and immense watch towers. The beautiful winding road leads through deep ravines and thick forest to the Arait pol. There are Hulla pol, Hanuman pol, Ram pol, Bhairava pol, Paghra pol and the top-khana pol.

    What to see in Kumbhalgarh

    There is a beautiful Badal mahal palace, which encloses beautiful rooms. These rooms have pleasant color schemes of green, white and Turquoise, which provides a contrast to the otherwise raw, earthy and grim fort.

    Haldighati is a very famous battle of the 1576 that was fought between Rana Pratap and the massive forces of the Mughal emperor Akbar. There is a beautiful chhatri or canopy of white marble dedicated to Rana Pratap.

    Kumbhalgarh wildlife Sanctuary is worth visiting. You can travel here on horse back and can see the rare wolf. It is a perfect place for you if you are a wildlife lover. This sanctuary is a home to many endangered species of wildlife like sloth bear, Hyena, wolf, leopards, jackal, jungle cats, Nilgai, sambhar, chinkara and many other animals. The bird population includes flamingoes, Sarus cranes, painted storks, spoonbills, cormorants, purple heron and rosy pelican to name a few.

    The celebrations of the Gher Ghoomer festival before the Chamunda Devi are very famous. These celebrations are taking place since the last six centuries and retain the old charm. There is a lot of dancing and singing and colored water is splashed along with the mesmeric beating of drums.
