Sariska tiger reserve is a very famous tourist spot in Rajasthan. It lies in the Alwar district and is well known as a tiger reserve. Sariska is a picturesque place nestled in the valley of the Aravalli hills in the state of Rajasthan. The hills are of different color in different season. They are suffused with scarlet color due to the 'Flame of the forest' and other flowering trees which blossom in rich abundance. The park is parched brown during the summer season and gets bathed in the monsoons and becomes lush green. There are beautiful streams and water holes along the jamun trees, Arjun trees and the bamboos that etch filigree against the blue sky.

You can visit the Sariska sanctuary at any point of time and the best way is to take a jeep which can be arranged by the forest reception office in the city. This was the hunting reserve of the maharajas of Alwar and was totally protected for their shoots. The Sariska wild life sanctuary was established in 1955 and taken over by project tiger in 1979.

Apart from the sanctuary, there are many places of religious and historical importance. Pandupol is a well-known place and it is believed that the pandavas stayed here during their exile. This place has a very beautiful natural arch engraved in the limestone by the action of water. Another interesting place is the Hanuman temple. This place is covered with dense forest and there is a mystery surrounding it. There is a huge idol of Lord Hanuman that goes back to the days of Mahabharata. The presence of monkeys in this area is a delight as these are friendly and do not harm anyone. Other places worth visiting are the Kankawad fort and the Neelkanth temple.
