Hotels in Amarnath

According to Hindu mythology, the Himalayas have been the abode of Gods and the holy shrine of Amarnath is rightfully located in one such isolated cave of the great ranges. The journey to the Lord's abode is difficult and accommodations are hard to find. But the pilgrims are not dissuaded by this fact and even a night under the stars is acceptable to them. At such altitudes, no hotels or rest houses are found. For the Amarnath Yatris (pilgrims), staying arrangements are made in the form of tents. Special camps are set up for the pilgrims and their families and food and lodging are provided for. These camps are the only places to spend the cold nights along the routes. The last stop before heading for the holy cave is Panchtarni. Visitors can spend the night at the Panchtarni, offer puja at the holy cave during the day and head back home with the Lord's blessings.
