Only two things attract a visitor to the caves of Amarnath. One is the urge of the soul to reach the holy caves and gain the blessings of the Lord and the other is the unquenchable thirst of the heart to view the most beautiful sights on the way to these caves. The beauty of this northern state of India called Jammu and Kashmir is something which cannot be described in words but has to be experienced in person. Same is the feeling of happiness to have reached the heavenly abode after a treacherous trek. Both the findings are incomparable.

The Shiva lingam, the symbol of Lord Shiva worshipped in the caves is definitely the centre of attraction. Whether a natural phenomenon or miracle is the source of this ice formation, which takes the shape of the Shiva Lingam, is unknown. For years now, the same phenomenon has kept on repeating itself, giving strength to the beliefs of thousands of devotees visiting the caves every year. According to the general belief, there is a lake on top of the caves named as Ramkund Lake and the water from this lake drip continuously to form the Shiva Lingam which attains a full shape on a full moon night. Nature is something to be enjoyed en route to Amarnath. The route from Pahalgam to Chandanwari is through dense woods showcasing exorbitant natural sceneries. What grabs the attention most is the playful Lidder stream and the bridge over it which surprisingly remains covered with snow even if the nearby surroundings are not.

Spectacular scenery awaits the pilgrims at Seshnag too. The magnificent and crystal clear Lake simply bewitches you with its beauty. A mark of purity, the glaciers behind the lake makes for the perfect natural backdrop.
