Notably the second most important historic city in Rajasthan, Jodhpur can be reached quite easily from other cities across the country. Jodhpur has its own airport, which is situated 5 kilometers away from the city centre. Regular flights are available between Jodhpur and cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Udaipur and Jaipur. Indian Airlines flights are available to all these four places. Jet Airways however flies to Mumbai and Delhi from Jodhpur.

An important point on the North Western zone of the Indian Railways, Jodhpur is connected well via a number of trains with a number of important cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaisalmer, Jaipur, Bikaner, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Tourists can also avail the famous Palace on Wheels to reach Jodhpur. From the station, taxis and auto rickshaws are readily available.

A well maintained national highway links Jodhpur to a number of cities like Ajmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Mount Abu. Buses operate on the highway and link Jodhpur to Ahmedabad, Agra, Delhi, Jaisalmer and Jaipur.
