A perfect hill station in every sense of the term, the soothing surroundings of Munnar definitely gives you respite from the claustrophobic city life. So once you reach the place put your valuable time to good use. There is plenty to explore in Munnar- mountain streams running down the hills, dense green forests with cloud covered canopies, valleys with seasonal flowers in their full bloom, vast stretches of tea plantations, lakes and wonderful waterfalls.

Tourists visiting the place will have a wonderful time visiting all these exotic places full of Nature’s beauty. While some are located in close proximity to Munnar, tourists might need to travel a little further to visit some, but the journeys definitely pays off.

Known to be primarily a tea town, the Tata Tea Museum is the first attraction that draws the crowd. It is located on the Nallathany Road, just 2 kilometers from the Munnar Centre. Other places of importance consist of the CSI Church and the Blossom International Park. The CSI Church which was built in the year 1910 with stone is a perfect place to rest your soul and is an important part of Munnar.

Other notable locations around Munnar and worthy of visit comprises of Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty Dam, Sita Devi Lake in Devikulam, Anayirangal Dam, the Sandalwood forests and Thoovanam waterfalls in Marayoor and Echo Point. However, there are two more attractions that you cannot afford to miss while you are visiting Munnar. The first one is the dreamy town of Chithirapuram with its lovely wooden cottages and old bungalows. A visit to the site of the Pallivasal Hydel Power project here is an added bonus of the trip. Further a visit to the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary on SH 17(Udumalpet road) completes your trip to Munnar.
