There are many tourist places in Ratnagiri. Ganeshghule beach is situated in the outskirts of the city of Ratnagiri. You can enjoy a beautiful sun set in the serene atmosphere of the emerald waters. The Gateway of Ratnagiri is a beautiful structure with slopped roof on the Ratnagiri beach. The structure overlooks the majestic Arabian Sea and provides you with an enchanting walk along the shores.
Mandavi beach is the most popular beach in Ratnagiri. This beach has the Ratnadurg fort on the west side and is in close proximity of the town. The sand here is black and hence it is called as Black sea.
Pandra Samudra has a long stretch of beautiful white sand. The sea appears white and hence is called as White Sea, or Pandra samudra.
Ratnadurg fort in Ratnagiri is horseshoe shaped. It is a massive structure and the length of the fort is 1,300 meters and breadth of 1,000 meters. It was once a strong hold of the Maratha power. The fort is spread over a vast area of 120 acres. The Ratnagiri fort offers dazzling view of the sunset. The sounds of pounding waves against the rocks add to the attraction of the place. There is a lighthouse on the bastions of the fort.
Bhagwati mandir is a magnificent temple located inside the Ratnadurg fort. The temple is very ancient and the architecture is marvelous. Other deities in the temple like the Asthadashbhuj ganpati are unique for their sculptural work. The temple is thronged by worshippers during the navratri festival and there e is a big yatra during those nine days.
Thibaw point is a picnic spot in Ratnagiri situate on a hill. There is a lovely mansion called as Thebaw palace. The king of Burma built it and it is very famous as the exile shelter of the king. The place has panoramic view of the entire place and tourists come here to see the stunning view of the sunset. The Thibaw point is nestled in the laps of nature and the majestic Arabian Sea.
Tilak Ali museum in Ratnagiri is the ancestral house of Lokmanya Tilak. This house is now converted into a museum and houses a number of pictures of great freedom fighters. This place is maintained by the Archeological survey of India. the museum tries to depict the important moments in the life of Tilak. It is a genuine effort to bring alive the memories of the famous Indian leader and provides much information about the freedom struggle.
