There is no chronological evidence about the history of the Bhangarh town. Once, the Bhangarh was a flourishing town of 10,000 homes. It was in the 17th century, when Raja Madho Singh built it. Still, some of the people believe that the evil spirits and ghosts inhabit in the town.

Today also, most of Bhangarh is in ruins. The crumbling temples, walls, and pavilions standing against the silent wilderness of forested hills scream out about the Bhangarh's ancient prosperity. The ruins of the arches and colonnades, built on various levels of Bhangarh suggest that it was once quite an elaborate complex. Now the portion like a pavilion and a minaret on a mound are intact. The site seems to be the perfect place to pack a picnic lunch and retire too.

Recently restored medieval bazaar is a truly fascinating experience. Near to it, there is a finely carved Someshwar temple. Someshwar temple tank is used by the villagers to bathe and wash. In addition, there is another temple here i.e. temple of Gopinath which has carved pillars and a corbelled cupola. Another fascinating monument of Bhangarh is the Randhiyon ka Mahal.
