Sattal

Sattal, a group of seven interrelated freshwater lakes, is a part of the Nainital district in the state of Uttaranchal. Located just 23 kms away from Nainital, the favored hill station of British officials, Sattal is an emerging, pristine site for tourism. The best time to visit Sattal is during the summer season i.e. from April-June, the weather is at its best; quite warm and salubrious. The temperature ranges between 10-27 degree Celsius and it's quite comfortable during the day to wander around and the nights are pleasant. During winter months i.e. from Dec- Feb, the temperature dips down to 2 degree Celsius at night accompanied with snowfall. It's better to avoid the place during the rainy season i.e. July- Aug. Best time to visit Sattal is from March- June and Sep- Nov.

There are numerous festivals and fests organized in Sattal from time to time. If you are fond of Indian festivals and mela, then it is best time to visit Sattal during these times. During Feb-Mar, there are Shivratri celebrations to commemorate Lord Shiva.

In the month of October, there is a lot of merriment owing to Dusshera which is celebrated with pomp and vigor. In the month of January, a 5-day long Bageshwar mela pilgrimage is held which is thronged by people from all over the world.
