Sattal is a beautiful place, located at an elevation of 1,370 mts above sea level on the road to Bhim Tal in the Nainital district of Uttaranchal, India. A group of seven (7) fresh water lakes nested together, Sattal remains untainted by modernization; one can still witness the nature's magnificence at its best. Set against the backdrop of the mighty Himalayas and delimited by the charming series of oak and pine trees, Sattal is a perfect getaway to get acquainted with one's inner self. Since the place is located just 23 kms away from Nainital, it is easily accessible. To reach the place, one can avail several means of transport.

By Air:

The nearest domestic airport is at Pantnagar which is about 70 kms away from Sattal. It is a newly constructed airport handling just few flights from Delhi and Chandigarh. From here, one can avail cab or taxi services to reach Sattal. Pantnagar is well connected to Sattal by motorable roads. Delhi airport is the nearest international airport and is about 320 kms away from Sattal.

Delhi- Pantnagar:
  1. Departure 13:15 hrs Arrival 14:15 hrs- Jagson airlines; Flights available only on Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
  2. Departure 15:00 hrs Arrival 16:00 hrs- Kingfisher airlines; Daily flights are available to and fro.
Pantnagar- Delhi:

By Train:

Nearest railhead is Kathgodam which is located just 33 kms away from Sattal. It is a comfortable overnight journey from Delhi to Kathgodam. Kathgodam is considered to be the gateway of Kumaon region. Buses are easily available from Kathgodam railway station and it takes about 1 hour to reach Sattal. A taxi costs about Rs. 750 and takes about 25-30 minutes.

By Road:

Sattal is linked to all the major towns and cities in Uttaranchal by well laid out roads. Cabs and taxis are also easily available from all chief townships in the Kumaon region. There are several buses plying from ISBT Anand Vihar, Delhi and Kashmere Gate ISBT, Delhi for Sattal as well as Nainital. The distance between Delhi and Sattal is about 310 kms and one can even drive down; it takes about 6-7 hrs to reach Sattal. The route from Delhi to Sattal is as follows:

Delhi-Ghaziabad-Hapur-Gajraula-Moradabad-Rampur-Kathgodam- Bhimtal- Sattal. Till Rampur one need to take up NH 24 and from Kathgodam onwards take NH 87.

Sattal is easily accessible due to its strategic location and tourists visiting Nainital must include this place in their travel itinerary.
