- Day 1
- Mahabaleshwar-Zolai Khind-Dudhgaon-Chaturbet-Ghonaspur
Move to Tapola from Mahabaleshwar and stop at Zolai Khind Pass. From its end, catch a trail leading to Dudhgaon village. Makarandgad Fort stands south-west. Move from Dudhgaon to west, cross Koyna River and reach Chaturbet. Walk to Ghonaspur village. From here, the path into the fort climbs before entering ballekilla. Ruins of Makarandgad hardly stand here. Mahadev temple and a rock cut cave are here. You can camp in/outside the temple

- Makarandgad-Hatlot-Shirpoli-Koyna River-Pratapgarh
Descend from Makarandgad to Hatlot village. Catch a trail bringing you to 4 hamlets that make Hatlot village. Pass the first hamlet to reach Maruti Temple. Passing all the hamlets will bring you to Koyna River and a road leading to Dudhgaon. Take a left and follow it past Shirpoli and Dudhgaon Phata. Walk ahead to reach Afzal Khan's Tomb. Now catch the road to the Fort's base. Pratapgarh Fort was built by Shivaji and is still in private hands. Inside the fort, you see a watchtower, Bhavani Mata Temple, a quartz Shivaling, bronze statue of Shivaji. From the Fort, you can see Konkan, Raigad, Torna, Rajgad, many forts, Mahabaleshwar and Makrandgarh. You can spend the night at the fort or move to Mahabaleshwar/Mumbai.
