- Day 1
- Chikmagalur-Mullaiyanagiri
Head to Kemmannagundi from Chikmagalur and get off at the arch saying-Sarpanadari. Now take the trail from Kemmannagundi and march to Mullaiyanagiri Peak. Now catch the path to the first hill's crest. Cross the plateau ahead and target the next hill. Climbing to it will bring you to a narrow ridge giving wonderful vistas. Tread on as the path winds uphill. You reach a piece of level ground. You find Mullaiyanagiri peak crowned by a Shiva Temple. To pay homage at the Temple, climb up. Camp here in the caves or in the Temple’s courtyard.
- Day 2
- Mullaiyanagiri-Baba Budanagiri
Baba Budanagiri Range separates Kemmannagundi from Chikmagalur. Mullaiyanagiri peak lays almost half way along this range. Baba Budanagiri dargah is at a distance of 18 kms from here. Descend 1000m to the north-east of Mullaiyanagiri peak and tread a little to reach there. Camp somewhere in the dargah or move to the hall in the dargah complex.
- Day 3
- Baba Budanagiri-Kemmannagundi
Kemmannagundi is to north-west. Move to the shrine anti-clockwise and head south-west to easily spot the trail. The trail takes you through coffee estates and scrub forests and large bare crevasses and brings to Kemmannagundi Hill Station. You can camp at Kemmannagundi maidan or get an accommodation in the lodges nearby.
- Day 4
- Kemmannagundi-Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary
A number of paths take you to the Z Point from Kemmannagundi. Tread on the path to the left of Z Point. This will take you to the Hebbe Waterfalls. The Waterfalls have a brutal background. In the days of old, multitudes of prisoners of chieftains and kings were thrown over the falls to die a tragic death on the rocks in the ferocious flow. Walk past the Waterfalls and climb to see the 122m cascade of the Kalhatti Falls. There you'll see a temple seated in the cliff over which the water tumbles. Now march parallel to the trail taking you to the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. Camp at the Muthodi Nature Camp grounds or stay in their cottages/ in dorm. Next morning, join a safari to visit the Sanctuary. Bus/taxi to Chikmagalur will assist you in your return journey to home.
