    1. Day 1
    2. Ishwar Temple-Irpu Falls-Narimalbetta

    Ishwar Temple is also known as Rameshwar Temple. Trek begins here at Irpu. On reaching Irpu Falls, you climb to Brahmgiri towards Forest Rest House at Narimalbetta. About 1 km from the Ishwar Temple, the path takes you to the outer limits of the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. If you want to move ahead, get written permission from the Reserve Forest Office at Hunsur.

    Route to Narimalbetta takes you to an hour's climb. The path winds around the hillside. Marching on the path brings you to shoal forests. To refresh you on your climb ahead, the Laxman Tirtha Stream has many stop over points. Your camp is at the clearing at the height of 1300m. After relaxing your body and refreshing yourself for the next march, start to Narimal Peak from the camp. You'll see Hanumanbetta-a strange ring near its crest that is believed to be an imprint left by Hanuman's tail.

    2. Narimalbetta- Pakshipathalam

    Start to Pakshipathalam (which is called Munikal in Kannada) through Brahmagiri Peak. On reaching a fork, move right to Pakshipathalam. The left of the fork takes you to a T-junction. From here you turn to Brahmagiri Peak. Now retrace your steps to Pakshipathalam. The ancient caves of Pakshipathalam are most sought after site for meditation because neither any sound escapes from them nor any sound enters them. Legends hold that after his aerial circumambulation, Garuda perched on Karimala where you can see a small projection having a shape of an eagle. This rock is known as Garudapara.

    Close to it is Rishipathalam which is said to be a meditation seat of the sages. At Pakshipathalam, there is no accommodation. So camp at your own.

    2. Pakshipathalam-Thirunelly

    From Pakshipathalam to Thirunelly is a challenging downhill trail. You see Thirunelly Temple amidst ferns and creepers of forest. The Temple is incomplete since the time of an unsolved dispute between the Malabar King of Kottayam and the Maharaja of Mysore. Inside the Temple people bath in Papanashini spring.

    Panchateerth is a pond of sacred importance where 5 rivers are believed to meet. These days, maximum water is dried up and the tank is under thick plant growth. A mound at the center will fascinate you. It has a stone slab having imprint of Vishnu's feet called Vishnupad. Thirunelly enjoys the good flow of pilgrims. There is a good and comfortable rest house at Thirunelly which is the only place to stay and relax for the tourists.
