- Day 1
- Kupamudi Estate and Around
To reach Kupamudi Estate move to Edakkal. The beginners could start by a moderate walk through coffee and bamboo clumps past rocky outcrops. Experienced ones can climb uphill and walk to Sitakully-a pond where Sita is believed to have bathed. On being acclimatized, move to Kupamudi Peak, Terminator and Annapara. The area lies in the rain-shadow region, thus it receives limited rainfall and enjoys the advantage of absence of leeches. For night stays, avail the hospitality of the hotel located in that area.
- Day 2
- Edakkal-Ambukuthymala-Edakkal
Start to Edakkal Caves and climb to it. Edakkal holds great importance as it has prehistoric drawings. Steep climb from Edakkal is eased by steel ladders. A climb from Edakkal Caves brings you to Ambukuthymala top. A picturesque Resort to camp is on Ambukuthy top. On clear days, you can see the highest peak in Wayanad-Chembra.
- Day 3
- Vaduvanchal-Meenmutty
Move to Chellangode , get a guide and descend to Meenmutty. The beauty of the waterfalls is seen at its best from Neelimala Viewpoint. Also see Kanthanpara and Soochipara waterfalls. Move to Mepaddy to stay. For more comforts, head to Kalpetta.
- Day 4
- Mepaddy-Chembra Peak-Vythiri
Chembra is seated close to Mepaddy. Climbing to the top is tedious but must be done with permission of Mepaddy Forest Department's Ranger. The summit gives good camping site. When you leave Chembra, tread to Pookot Lake. Green mountains and a natural freshwater Lake around it invites for a stroll and boating. At Vythiri, you have ample options to stay comfortably.
- Day 5
- Vythiri-Kalpetta
The resort area at Vythiri gives ample chances of birding. From Vythiri walk 10 kms from the main road to Kalpetta. About 4 kms from Kalpetta, there is Muttil town. A right turn from here takes you 6 kms to Uravu. A small artisan community here manufactures a w3ide range of pretty bamboo and clay handicrafts which are sold at sound prices.
- Day 6
- Kalpetta-Kuruvadweep
Cross Mananthawady from Kalpetta in order to reach Kuruvadweep. It is 950 acres of evergreen forest on the tributaries of River Kabini. Kuruvadweep has 3 islands which are uninhabited and preserved eco-systems. There is lack of space to stay but with Forest Department's permission and guide's help, you can camp here. After a day, move to Thirunelly for an overnight stay.
- Day 7
- Thirunelly-Pakshipathalam
At the Thirunelly Temple's back there are stairs which lead to Panchateerth and Papanashini spring. There is a rock-Garudapara where Garuda is believed to have perched after his aerial circumambulation, according to a legend. Pakshipathalam is a natural rock cave located at the northern edge of Brahmagiri Hills. It doesn't have any accommodation.
Wayanad enjoys an excellent geographical position. To reach this far-flung area, you have to depend completely on the public transport.
