Indian Railways operates trains between Delhi, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. On the broad gauge line, Udaipur is served by the Mewar Express which links the city with Mathura, Kota and Delhi. Another new Express Train, the Ananya Express is scheduled to connect Udaipur with the metropolitan city of Kolkata.
Udaipur forms a part of the Golden Quadrilateral by the virtue of which it is strategically located in a middle position between Mumbai and Delhi on the NH 8. The distance from both the places to Udaipur is nearly 650 kilometers. Those who want to follow the road to the Lake city have two options- self driving or hiring a private car or opt for a bus. For visiting tourists to Udaipur starting from Delhi, it is advisable to hire a car or travel by the bus operated by the Rajasthan Tourism. The bus leaves from India Gate in Delhi. Udaipur can also be reached easily from Ahmedabad. Other places from where Udaipur can be reached via road are Agra, Mount Abu, Jaipur and Jodhpur.
